Elaine Boyd is a writer and examiner and has taught English for over 20 years. She has particular expertise in Writing, Listening and Speaking exams. She has completed a PhD in Linguistics and has a particular interest in vocabulary. Elaine is from London but currently lives in Cardiff, where she mainly writes material for publication as well as for exams. She also does occasional teaching at Cardiff University. Elaine is the co-author of the C1 level coursebook of Premium.

| How did you get into ELT? |
| I wanted to go and live in Italy and teaching was an enjoyable way of working there. |

| Gorgeous – it sounds like its meaning. |

| Being pedantic. |

| Dishonesty – in all senses. |

| I love the Introduction pages for each unit as I think they really motivate students. |

| ‘The Pursuit of Happiness’ by Douglas Kennedy. It’s about recognizing that, even by indecision, you are making choices about your life. |
